Placing Podscribe’s RSS Prefix on Hosting Platforms that don’t support Prefixes (eg Spotify for Podcasters)

If you host your show on Spotify for Podcasters (or any other hosting platform that does not let you manage your RSS prefixes), fear not! You can use Podscribe’s Enhanced RSS feed to still place the Podscribe RSS prefix on your show. Podscribe wraps your initial feed, inserts the Podscribe prefix into it, creating an Enhanced RSS Feed. You then submit the Enhanced RSS Feed URL to Apple Podcasts and other players. This lets Podscribe track downloads on all players that let you update your RSS feed to the Enhanced Feed. Here are the steps:

1. Copy Your Podscribe Enhanced RSS Feed URL

From your show page on Podscribe, copy the Copy the Podscribe Enhanced RSS Feed URL link after clicking on the RSS icon on the top right.

2. Update Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other Players to use your Enhanced RSS Feed URL

Apple Podcasts

Sign into Apple Podcasts Connect. Select your show, go to Show Information, and click Edit in the RSS Feed > URL section. Then paste your new Enhanced Feed URL:

Spotify

If you host your podcasts on Spotify for Podcasters, Spotify for Podcasters automatically submits your RSS feed to Spotify for indexing, and as of 10/31/24, there is no option in their UI to modify it.

As a workaround, we suggest emailing their support:

Hi, I’d like to have the Spotify listening app use this new RSS feed URL, instead of my existing Anchor one: [PASTE YOUR ENHANCED RSS FEED URL] Could you please make the switch so that this new RSS URL is used instead of my existing one? Please note - I am still hosting my podcast on Spotify for Podcasters. I am just using Podscribe to create an enhanced RSS feed URL from my original Anchor one, so I need to keep my Anchor account active. I am not switching hosting platforms. Thanks!

We cannot guarantee Spotify will update your feed if you host on Spotify for Podcasters, but they may be able to.

If you host your podcast on any platform other than Spotify for Podcasters, see this guide for updating your RSS Feed URL within Spotify.

Other Players

Similar to Apple, we suggest having updating other players such as Amazon Music and Overcast to use the new Enhanced RSS Feed URL. Most other players and sites though pull the RSS Feed URL from Apple, so updating Spotify and Apple is likely sufficient to move 95% of all traffic to the new feed.

3. Verify Everything Is Working

Check these two things to confirm that your new feed is working correctly:

  • Play your podcast on Apple Podcasts and on Spotify to ensure it still plays.
  • Check on Podscribe that your show page has the green checkbox to confirm the Podscribe prefix is now on there.
